Haus Haust Review
I’ve often frequented this cafe multiple times and is one of the go to spots I would highly recommend to anyone who is looking to eat western food. The prices are a bit on the pricier side for Miri, but is justifiable given the quality of the food and the generous serving sizes they give to the customers.
Food: Curry Kaarage Udon, Beef Brisket Carbonara Pasta, and Chicken Chop
The general consensus was that out of all the selected food, the Chicken Chop was the best tasting. The chicken was tender, the mushroom sauce complemented it well, the fries & hashbrowns were crispy, and the coleslaw refreshing to perfectly balance out the heavier side of the dish.
In fact, a friend of mine couldn’t stop talking about how good it was the entire time he was eating it, making reactions similar to the anime characters found Food Wars. It was hilarious since the dude is a tough nut to crack when it comes to what he considers “good food”, as often times he would say “it’s aight” to most dishes he tried out.
As for me, I tried out the Curry Kaarage Udon, and personally think that this dish is “aight”. If you were to separate the Kaarage chicken alone, it would be really good, as the chicken had really crispy fried skin and was very tender. But as a whole, there was an ingredient that made it not as enjoyable as I thought it would be. Now I don’t know what it was so I don’t really know how to describe the taste, but perhaps it’s something that requires someone with an acquired taste to fully appreciate it.
For the Beef Brisket Carbonara Pasta, my friends said that it was good, and that It’s as close to what you think you would get from Italy. But I can’t vouch for that, as I’ve never been to Italy. However, comparing it to other versions of carbonara I’ve tried here in Miri, this is definitely the best. Be prepared, because it is a very heavy and filling dish.
